The second day of DEC will be devoted to perspective regulation of new media that use Internet for distribution

European standards in the field of audiovisual media-services. New media

Two sections during the second day on 9th June will be devoted to discussing European standards as for new media that use Internet resource distribution, possible forms to change Ukrainian legislation in the field of television to fulfill obligations of Ukraine in its implementation of the Council of Europe Directive on Audiovisual Media Services.

Discussion will be supported by the Council of Europe project “Enhancing respect for the protection of human rights online through capacity building, regional cooperation and participation in global internet governance policies shaping”.

*Tanja Kerševan Smokvina from Slovenia, leading expert of Council of Europe, will tell about European experience on regulations, recent trends and “Digital Europe” program implementation.

Alex Kovalsky, Ericsson, will present company research on changes in global trends of television content consumption.

There will also be a discussion on recent challenges to content, possible changes in regulating local television space, compliance with European standards between People’s Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy Grygoriy Shverk, Deputy Chairman of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting Uliyana Feshchuk, Deputy Chairman of the National Electronic Mass Media Council of Latvian Republic Gunta Līdaka together with local representatives of relevant Associations – Natalya Klitna, Aleksandr Fedienko and Inese Aleksandrova.

The project provides simultaneous interpretation from English into Ukrainian.
